Description

Family Health Matters is a primary health centre providing evidence based healthcare centrally located in the Glen Innes Community, for all your family health needs. We make it our point to see your sick child under 5 on the same day.

Our mission is to create a safe and supportive space in which we can work together and provide personalised, family-oriented medical care to the people in our community and surrounding areas who want to take control of their health and live a more vibrant and healthy life.

By combining the art and science of nursing and medicine, we work with our patients in a more holistic way that considers their situation in a wider context and finds solutions that work for them.

As every body and mind is different, we are mindful of our patients’ needs and taking the time to develop a personalised treatment plan for our patients. We are working as a team and we are part of a wide network of health specialists to which we can refer our patients as needed.

Staff

Michal: Nurse Practitioner & Founder
With a career spanning across 30 years, several continents including clinically challenging environments in West Africa and Central America and 10 years in senior clinical roles in the USA, Michal returned to NZ in clinical roles, largely focused on children and young people and working with high needs populations, along with academic teaching positions.

Drawing on her significant USA experience for inspiration, Michal gained accreditation as an NZ nurse practitioner who is accredited by the NZ nursing council.

Nurse practitioners, with advanced nursing qualifications and experience, are authorised prescribers under the Medicines Act alongside doctors, dentists, midwives, and optometrists.

For the past 15 years, Michal has been in general practice and has worked with patients of all ages.
