Covid-19 testing
Urgent Care Clinic
COVID-19 testing ONLY:
If you require a COVID-19 test only and do NOT require a consult with a Clinician, please phone the clinic first on 09 486 7777.
We will try to accommodate you if we have the capacity, otherwise we will direct you to your nearest community testing centre (CTC).
These testing centres only do COVID-19 tests and as such their results are prioritised and are set up for a surge in demand.
COVID19 testing requiring a consult with a Clinician:
If you are unwell and require a consult with one of our Clinicians, AND require a COVID-19 test, please present to our clinics as usual for an urgent care, walk in appointment.
Follow the signage and instructions given to you when you arrive, and ensure you alert our staff to any respiratory symptoms.
We ask in advance for your patience. Urgent Care clinics have a crucial role for those who are unwell or injured. We cannot stop this work and we have limited capacity to cater for a big surge in demand for COVID-19 testing.
Description
Our clinics are led by health care professionals that provide normal and after hours medical services to the North Shore community. Shorecare seeks to accomplish this by providing services that are consistent through primary health care and through its aligned principles and those of its General Practitioner shareholders.
Shorecare operates through a system of core values to ensure patients receive the highest standards of care. These values include employing the best team of practitioners and providing them with supportive staff to ensure a positive work environment which promotes empowerment and accountability. Shorecare maintains a strong emphasis on teamwork within the clinics to ensure thoughtfulness and respect exists between colleagues in addition to the care and respect that is shown to patients. Shorecare places great value on integrity, trust and compassion so that patients always feel safe and confident about the service they are receiving.

The doctor who sees you has gone through an extensive medical training to equip her or him to help children and adults of all ages with a range of physical and emotional difficulties. GPs are at the centre of the healthcare hub and will be aware of services and expertise that are available locally and further-a-field. GPs are also aware of the link that stress and unhappy life events have on physical health so know when to suggest a talking therapy rather than medication. Primary care practices offer a range of services and are able to deal with most minor accident care. If they are not able to deal with an injury they will refer on to the appropriate service. Shorecare specialises in minor injuries and fracture management. For patients with wounds, we can provide tetanus cover, thorough cleansing, wound closure if required and ongoing dressing care. For those with possible broken bones, we have X-ray facilities on site and provide specialist plastering skills should this be required. We also run regular specialist orthopaedic clinics which allows us to manage most fractures from day 1 to healing.
