I Attend this morning with My 10 year old grandson just after 8am struggling to find a park. filled in the form and noted NA regarding the fees. as I thought there was no charge . I have been to shorecare for the past 10 years with my grandson, in this instance the Dr and Nurse were great. Taking my form back to reception was surprised to see a $75 fee I asked the receptionist why was I not told there would be a charge as I specificially noted NA regarding a fee. A lady and her child were in another queue and the second receptionist said you are aware there is a charge for your child. This was not said to me. I waited while the receptionist went to get the manager as I was disputing the charge. the manager came and would not give me her name she was blonde with straight hair and looked about 40. I explained that if I had known the charge I would have taken my grandson to Nth Shore Hospital as I could not afford $75. The manager said they were a private company and the charge would be sent to baycorp if I did not pay I signed the form as I am the guardian for my grandson . I asked again for her name which she refused and said she would give me her business card. She handed me a card but when I got home it was just a card that said management Office and no name so she is not truthful.. Dreadful customer service as she was aggressive, rude and should not be working in the health sector. There values are not reflected in how they treat patients or clients.

Sorry to hear of your experience.
Fees are payable for patient's under the age of 14 during the day 8am to 5pm. The free service is for patients under 14 who attend prior to 8am, after 5pm and all weekend including public holidays. Outside of these times when General Practices are open full charges need to be paid as no government funding is available to private urgent care clinics.
Signage is available in the clinic and I have asked our team to check that this is clear.

Great experience today. The nurse was very attentive and compassionate. Dr Rachel Rowlands really listened and was incredibly thorough. I felt in expert hands. Reception staff were lovely too. Wait time was 1.5 hours, but entirely worth it.

I took my baby boy yesterday, registered his name and they called him by my toddler's name. I correct the doctor about my baby's name and he seems doesnt care. Im very disappointed because its like my baby doesnt exist. The week before this week, my husband went in, the doctor didnt explain him whats wrong with his hand and didnt give prescription for any pain killer. My husband's hand still in pain and we booked an appointment to see GP..so very disappointed 😞

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear of your experience at our clinic. Please email admin@shorecare.co.nz if you wish us to investigate further. Thanks

Liked the competent nurses who helped to progress wait times for patients. Great to see nurses used so well.Thought the service was run efficiently and with care for people, which is hard to keep up in a busy place.Good on all the staff.

The doctor that I saw at 11pm on Sat 20 Aug was able to give a diagnosis and treatment plan within about 2min but then rather than let me go so that he could see the next patient (of whom there were many who had been waiting a good 1hr+) he settled in for the next 10min to deliver a monologue about scientific research and then after I tried to wrap it up by thanking him and referencing the many people waiting to see him he continued to talk for a further 5min about his son. I hadn’t minded my 90min wait when I imagined it was because the doctor was working hard to get through a lot of patients but I was not impressed that he dragged our time out so unnecessarily and appeared to be oblivious to the impact of long waiting times on his patients. Hopefully someone at Shorecare will read this, identify the doctor and pass this on. I’m not knocking educating people about relevant medical research, and in a GP clinic where people have set appointment times it would be much less of an issue, but please keep it concise in an A&E where wait times are already excruciating!

Thank you for the feedback. Our Clinical Lead will look into this.
