Virtual Care Clinic Service

Description
Aurum Health is a private healthcare service in New Zealand delivering concierge style health care which is built around ongoing, long-term clinical relationships and the convenience of online consultations. As our clinicians care for fewer patients than in standard general practice, we have more time for careful listening, continuity of care, and considered decision-making, with appointments of 30 minutes.
Care is delivered through a membership model or structured health programmes, allowing for continuity with the same clinical team and flexible access when needed. Services include annual health reviews, tailored care planning, prescriptions, referrals to private specialists, diagnostic coordination, and ongoing follow-up.

Aurum’s concierge approach to health means having a dedicated team who help coordinate your care, not just provide appointments. Alongside your clinicians, a relationship manager supports the practical details — organising bookings, follow-ups, referrals, and next steps — so care feels joined-up and easy to navigate. For example, if you’re away from home and need help arranging an urgent prescription or advice, you can contact Aurum and know support is close at hand from a team who already know you and your health. Each GP surgery or primary care practice will have its own procedure for repeat prescribing but the following rules are common to most, if not all. Patients who are well-known to the practice who have a stable condition like asthma, hypertension or diabetes could be allowed to get a repeat prescription for up to six months. Repeat prescriptions are never given to patients who are not known to the practice and there is probably a blanket ban on repeats for narcotics and other drugs that could be misused as doctors are expected to monitor these drugs carefully.

Sometimes your doctor needs to take a sample of blood or urine either to discover what is wrong with you or to measure something in your blood so that the right medication is given to you. These tests could be anything from blood sugar to a full blood count or a sample of tissue to test for cancer. While urine can generally be tested in the surgery, blood and other specimens are usually sent away for testing at a laboratory. Most results come back within 48 hours unless a very rare test is needed which has to go to a specialist lab further away when it might take a little longer.
