Services Provided

Adult and Child Medical Care The CareHQ doctor who sees you has gone through extensive medical training to equip her or him to help children and adults of all ages with a range of physical and emotional difficulties. A CareHQ GP can help treat most medical needs, sicknesses or injuries from a common cold, contraceptive options or concerns, migraines, repeat scripts for your pharmacy through to acne, health counselling and off-work certificates. In short, most things you'd normally see a GP for. As a telehealth service, CareHQ might not be right for all medical conditions. For complex health issues that are ongoing, and you have been seeing your enrolled GP clinic about, your CareHQ GP may ask you to reach out to your GP clinic for continuity of care and safety. If you have a medical emergency such as severe pain, collapse, or shortness of breath, please call 111 immediately. Check out our FAQ’s for more information. A virtual consultation is not appropriate for driving medicals, medical procedures and specialist clinics other than those advertised. Injury Management CareHQ GPs can review and sign off a return-to-work assessment for an injured employee, getting them back to work as quickly as possible. The employee's return to work plan can be uploaded with ease for the GP to assess and approve after discussion with the injured employee. International Visitor and Student For visitors to New Zealand, who are not enrolled at a practice and far from an urgent care facility, CareHQ can provide medical support. They can create an NHI, provide a prescription or refer to a specialist. Prescriptions That’s just one of the reasons why CareHQ is so convenient. At your GP consultation we will send your prescription to your preferred pharmacy. There may be some circumstances when we are unable to provide a prescription for a medication in a virtual consultation due to New Zealand regulations. Your prescribing clinician may offer a short-term script of up to 30 days' worth of medication for long-term conditions, and only 7 days for controlled drugs or drugs of potential misuse (such as sedatives and hypnotics). Prescribing is at the discretion of your CareHQ Doctor or Clinician. Full terms and conditions are available on our website. Lab Tests CareHQ GPs can refer you on for lab tests if they think appropriate. For complex health issues that are ongoing, and you have been seeing your enrolled GP clinic about, your CareHQ GP may ask you to reach out to your GP clinic. During your consultation, your healthcare provider will determine whether any tests or investigations are necessary to manage your condition. They may choose to decline any tests that are suggested by other healthcare professionals if they are deemed unnecessary or require ongoing follow-up to interpret the results or do not follow best practice guidelines. This approach is taken to ensure the best possible outcome for the patient. It is important to note that if the CareHQ health care provider recommends any investigations, the patient may be charged for them. Therefore, it is the patient's responsibility to confirm with their respective insurance provider whether the investigation will be covered. CareHQ cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred. If you require further clarification, please contact care@carehq.co.nz for further advice before undertaking the investigation. Minor Accident Care CareHQ GPs can deal with most minor accident care. If they are not able to deal with an injury, or if the injury needs an in-person visit, for continuity of care and safety, they will refer on to the appropriate service. ACC forms can be completed for ACC related injuries. Radiology CareHQ can send you for X-Rays and Scans and follow up with your results. You may be asked to book a second appointment if further treatment or investigation is required. Nurse Clinics A CareHQ registered nurse can support you if you require an off-work certificate, have a UTI, a STI, or for non-urgent medical advice. A nurse may also be able to assist with a follow up to, or question from, a recent consult with a CareHQ GP. Patients must be over 5 years of age. Referrals If our CareHQ GP feels tertiary care is recommended, referring to public and private specialists is an option.
