If I Have Complications During Either my Pregnancy or Labour, Will I be Charged to See an Obstetrician?

There are no charges if you are eligible for free maternity care (see: How Much is my Maternity Care Going to Cost?) and have complications during your pregnancy or labour, and your LMC refers you to an obstetrician in the public health system.

If you have complications during your pregnancy and choose to see a private obstetrician there will be a charge for this service.

If you have had a normal pregnancy but have opted for a private obstetrician and have complications during your labour, you are unlikely to incur extra charges. Consult your obstetrician for further details.
