Profile

With over 30 years experience in Cosmetic, General & Emergency Medicine, Matthew has recently returned home to Taranaki.

For many years he was Director of Emergency Medicine at Taranaki Base Hospital & Gladstone Hospital in Queensland and owned several clinics in New Plymouth.

After moving to Australia he achieved his Fellowship from the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery & subsequently completed advanced certification in skin cancer, dermoscopy & skin histopathology.

In the last few years Dr Allen has a held a position as principal medical investigator for the University of Sunshine Coast working on a number of clinical trials in the use of new forms of botulism toxin for cosmetic treatments and is an expert in low dose injection techniques for facial rejuvenation.

As well as utilising Botox® for aesthetics, excessive sweating and migraines, he also has expertise in the advanced use of fillers for volume and contour restoration, minimally invasive thread face lifting and PRP facial treatments. Matthew also has a particular interest in the treatment of acne.

In addition he provides comprehensive skin cancer services, including accurate dermoscopic diagnosis. Matthew is experienced in complex surgical procedures including facial flap repairs & skin grafts.

A father of five children with his partner Hayley, he is also a skilled guitarist and a not so good singer. When not working Matthew runs a recording studio on the outskirts of New Plymouth and follows his passion for the propagation and utilisation of construction bamboo.
