Dr Denesh Patel

Dr Denesh C Patel is a consultant dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon who has been in private practice since 1999, based at the Auckland Skin and Cancer Foundation. He offers vast experience in the diagnosis and management of both medical and surgical dermatology, in all ages, recognising the effects that skin disease can have on a person.

His particular interests include skin conditions presenting in children, disorders of pigmentation and skin diseases in ethnic skin, sun sensitivity disorders and he is involved in all aspects of skin cancer management, including Mohs micrographic surgery.

Denesh is also currently the Clinical Director of Dermatology, Greenlane Clinical Centre. As a dermatologist working in the public hospital Denesh is involved in managing a variety of, often challenging, skin conditions in a wide range of patients of different ages and backgrounds.

In addition to his clinical duties, Denesh enjoys his role as a clinical teacher. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland Medical School and currently a member of the Dermatology Specialist Advisory Committee for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Dermatologist

Denesh graduated from the University of Otago Medical School in 1989. The foundations of his medical skills were then developed working in a variety of medical positions in New Zealand as a junior doctor. He recognised dermatology as a branch of medicine where he could use all these skills to help patients with skin disease. He commenced dermatology training in Auckland before taking a position at the esteemed St John’s Institute of Dermatology, St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1998.

Denesh is a vocationally registered dermatologist in New Zealand and a member of the New Zealand Dermatological Society. Other memberships include: American Society of Mohs Surgery, Australasian Dermatopathology Society and the Auckland Indian Medical Association.
