COVID-19: we want to help our patients get well and protect our staff and community.

Please do not present to the clinic if you are unwell without speaking to one of our staff first.

If you have cold or flu-like symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, fever, runny nose or sneezing, please contact the clinic to speak with one of our team.

COVID testing is FREE - you will not be charged for your test unless you are travelling out of NZ.

 

YOUR SAFETY

The safety and well-being of our patients and staff is a priority for us, and so patients visiting for COVID-19 testing or assessment are not seen in the same areas.  Testing is carried out in your car where possible, and if an assessment is required, this is done in an isolation room.  

This means that if you need to visit the clinic for another reason, for example your flu vaccine, you will not be exposed to any areas where COVID-19 testing or assessment is taking place.

Testing is a vital part of stopping the spread of COVID-19, and we are happy to be helping with this part of the response plan.

At The Doctors Birkenhead, we’re committed to helping you build a healthier future. When health issues or accidents occur, we’re here to provide the care, advice, and support you need.

Located in our refurbished medical centre in the heart of the Shore, we’ve designed our clinic with your comfort and convenience in mind.

Our small dedicated team of experienced General Practitioners and nurses work together to provide high-quality, patient-focused care. Each GP brings expertise—from asthma and skin surgery to child health, women's health, and travel medicine.

Our nursing team plays a vital role in supporting patients with chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, respiratory issues, and more. They provide regular health checks, care planning, education, and monitoring to help patients manage their long-term health more effectively.

The Doctors Birkenhead welcomes new enrolments, casual patients, and visitors year-round. We offer 15-minute appointments, designed to address 1–2 health concerns per visit.

Good news for patients and staff at the Doctors Birkenhead.

As with many other practices in New Zealand’s primary health sector, recruitment is a challenge, but we have worked hard to recruit clinical staff to the practice, we have two new doctors starting early February and our books are open to new patients and we are working hard at supporting our old patients and we thank them for their understanding during the time we were temporarily relocated.

We care deeply about the health and well-being of the people in our community. Thank you for your continued support and trust in our practice.
