Dr Hitesh Patel

After basic medical training at the Auckland School of Medicine, Dr Hitesh Patel completed his medical and cardiology registrar training at hospitals in Auckland and Tauranga. He did his cardiology specialist training at Greenlane Hospital.

Dr Patel has a strong interest in general cardiology with a focus on ischaemic and valvular heart disease and the use of cardiac imaging for diagnosis. His position as a full-time cardiologist at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals, continues to provide him with exposure to the full range of cardiac problems that can affect patients.

He enjoys keeping up to date with new research and has made contributions to research, particularly as a sub or principal investigator, for many multi-center trials. He is a willing participant in endeavours to improve treatment of heart disease and in the last two years has travelled to assist the group that are providing cardiac surgery to patients in Fiji.

At Ascot, Dr Patel conducts general cardiology clinics, resting and stress echocardiography and diagnostic angiograms.
