Dr Yukai Lim

Dr Yukai Lim is a specialist surgeon based in Wellington, New Zealand. His practice focuses on surgery of the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder, as well as general and upper gastrointestinal (GI) procedures. He aims to provide safe, evidence-based care tailored to each patient.

Dr Lim completed a Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and Liver Transplant Fellowship at the National University Hospital in Singapore, gaining extensive experience in complex liver and transplant surgery. He went on to complete a further HPB fellowship at Waitematā / North Shore Hospital in Auckland, where he refined his skills in advanced minimally invasive and robotic techniques.

He trained in medicine and surgery at the University of Otago and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery. This background enables him to manage a broad range of surgical conditions, using both laparoscopic and open approaches depending on what best suits the individual case.

His practice focuses on surgery of the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder, as well as general and upper gastrointestinal (GI) procedures.

Dr Lim has an active interest in research and innovation, particularly in the use of 3D and augmented-reality technology to improve surgical planning and precision. He remains engaged in ongoing clinical and academic work to help bring emerging techniques safely into everyday practice.
