Mr Jon Morrow

MB ChB 1997 Auckland; FRACS (GS) 2010

Jon was born in Auckland and raised in Pakuranga. He attended medical school at Auckland University and graduated in 1997.

In 2008, Dr Morrow completed his advanced training in general surgery and was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS, General Surgery). He then went on to complete a one year fellowship with further subspecialty training in bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Holy Spirit Northside Hospital, which are both located in Brisbane, Australia. During this time, he gained expertise in gastric banding, gastric sleeve, and gastric bypass surgery, managing both primary and revisional surgery.

Jon is currently a consultant general surgeon at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, subspecialising in bariatric surgery with an interest in breast cancer work. One of his passions is training junior doctors in both general and bariatric surgery. He has also developed a database for auditing bariatric procedures to ensure safety and efficacy.

Jon also has a private practice, providing weight loss surgery at Discover Weight Loss in Epsom.

Jon is an executive member of the Australia and New Zealand Metabolic Obesity Surgical Society (ANZMOSS). He is also a member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
