Profile

Erica is a breast cancer surgeon and advocate in Auckland. Erica co-founded and is the Managing Director of both Auckland Breast Centre (ABC) and Focus Radiotherapy. ABC is a leading tertiary breast centre providing state-of-the-art, comprehensive breast assessment, imaging and treatment to women from around New Zealand.

Focus Radiotherapy Ltd has introduced Intrabeam Intraoperative Radiotherapy to New Zealand as a New Zealand first providing single-dose radiotherapy at the same time as surgery to selected women - an innovation which replaces 3-5 weeks of daily radiotherapy in 6 centres in NZ.

As an advocate, Erica has worked closely with breast consumer groups, Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition in particular, to put the Intraoperative Radiotherapy application onto the work-list for assessment to place this technology in the public health system which was found to be scientifically supported by the National Health Committee in 2015.

Erica is a consultant for Breast Screening Programme, and involved in multiple breast specialist groups within Australasia and the UK.

Erica was the founding Chair of the Advisory Board of the InZone Project (girls): a Trust set up to allow boarding and enrolment of selected Pacific and Māori students to Epsom Girls Grammar, is a member of NZ Global Women and a Fab 50 Leader for Be. Accessible. Erica has also lead her clinic to be the first health care provider awarded Gold for accessibility in New Zealand. Outside of this, Erica is a mentor to a number of students. Erica is married and has two children
