Mr Joseph Chen

Dr Joseph Chen is a specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with specialty interests in reconstructive microsurgery, facial trauma, skin cancer, aesthetic and hand surgery. After graduating from the University of Auckland School of Medicine, he underwent specialist Plastic Surgery training throughout New Zealand’s major centres, before becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2022.

Dr Chen then undertook subspecialty fellowship training in Reconstructive Microsurgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, a renowned centre for complex plastic surgery, where he gained further experience in head and neck, breast and lymphoedema, nerve and trauma reconstructive surgery.

He currently works as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Middlemore Hospital. Fluent in both English and Mandarin, he is dedicated to making sure patients feel understood, informed, and confident at every stage of their journey.
