Dr Michael Boaks graduated from medical school at the University of Western Australia in 2006. He holds dual Fellowships with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practice and the Royal Australian College of General Practice.
After some years working between Australia and New Zealand, he moved to Whangārei in 2016. He currently works in General Practice, Urgent Care, and in Medical Education with the NZ College of General Practice.
Having developed a keen interest in skin cancer medicine in primary care, he gained a Certificate of Dermoscopy and Skin Cancer Medicine before joining the team at Whangārei Skin Clinic. He also holds a special interest in the management of onychocryptosis (ingrown toenails), including surgical treatment. Mike strives to offer a high standard of care with a friendly bedside manner.
