Dr Christopher McKnight

I was born in Edinburgh and grew up on the east coast of Scotland.  I moved to Manchester to complete my medical degree, then undertook general practice training in Newcastle where I met Joanne.

I worked as a medical registrar in Hawkes Bay when we first came to New Zealand on sabbatical during my GP training.  Joanne and I soon realised that New Zealand was where we wanted to settle and raise our family so we purchased Ōhope Beach Medical Centre in 2014.  I am Dad to three little Kiwi girls who take up most of my spare time.

I am interested in the wide variety that general practice offers but particularly skin cancer detection and treatment, men's health, and teaching the medical students you will often meet at the practice.

I am proud of the growth our practice has achieved and of the high standard of care my team delivers.
