Being a midwife has always held a keen point of interest for me. I started my nursing career in 1977 in Christchurch and became a registered midwife in 1983 so have had the pleasure of supporting women through one of the most important times of their lives for more than 25 years.
I have worked in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Departments at Greenlane Hospital, National Women's Neonatal Unit and worked at both St. Helens and Waitakere Hospitals as a staff midwife.
Since I became an independent midwife I have found a new passion for my work. I feel this is because of the opportunity to build relationships with women during pregnancy, birth and postnatally. This adds enormous satisfaction to my profession as I oversee the complete birth experience while learning women's individual needs.
I currently live in Whenuapai. I have two daughters who have both completed school and are continuing their studies at university.
It is a privilege to work alongside women and assist with a safe and happy birth experience to the best of my ability.
