Midwifery Service
Description
Congratulations on your pregnancy :)
Whether it be your first time or a subsequent pregnancy, Elizabeth & Sara are enthusiastic about making your journey into motherhood enjoyable and comfortable.
They have 7 children and 20 years of midwifery experience between them, making them highly qualified both as midwives and mothers to provide the very best care for you.
Their clinic is based at Milford Natural Health Clinic, where they work alongside a number of other experienced health professionals including Osteopaths, Women's Health Physiotherapist, Counsellor, Nutritionist and Lactation Consultant who specialise in pregnancy, postnatal and infant care, and the four fantastic female GPs and practice nurses at the Milford Family Medical Centre.
They provide care to women across the North Shore who are wanting to birth at North Shore Hospital, Birthcare or at home.
Pregnancy is understandably a time when women have many questions and concerns, and Elizabeth and Sara are always happy to answer these.
They are passionate about natural birth where possible but are both skilled and experienced with more complicated outcomes when these occur.
Elizabeth and Sara have their own caseload of clients, and also provide second midwife support for each other so you can have 2 experienced midwives present at your birth when needed. They also cover each other as needed for holidays and sickness.
When needed, they provide and receive support as needed from other local experienced midwives.
You are very welcome to call Elizabeth or Sara if you have any questions or queries about pregnancy or the midwifery care they provide.

Your stay at a birthing centre or hospital after giving birth will usually be up to 2 days, or 2-5 days if you have had a caesarean. During this time you will have regular visits from your midwife and be supported to care and feed your baby. After the birth you will be resting and getting to know your new baby. Many women who have had a normal birth in North Shore Hospital or Birthcare, stay for 24 - 48 hours. If you have had a caesarean section, the usual hospital stay is 3-5 days. You may choose to have your postnatal stay at Warkworth Birthing Unit if you have given birth at North Shore Hospital. Many women also choose to go straight home after birth. Talk to Sara, Elizabeth or Sharon about your postnatal stay and make sure your family know what your plan is.
