Description

Manaaki Ora Trust is a kaupapa Māori health, social services and education provider that stems from the integration of Tipu Ora and Te Utuhina Manaakitanga. Manaaki Ora has grown from the aspirations of Te Arawa to ensure Māori are healthy, live well and are able to access the services and support that they need. We are a leading service provider utilising kaupapa Māori approaches for the well-being of all people.

Te Whare Oranga Ngakau - Alcohol and Other Drugs Residential Service

Te Whare Oranga Ngakau is a Kaupapa Māori alcohol and drug residential service. Over a 12 week programme, whānau are supported through exploration of whakapapa, tikanga and purakau to better develop the necessary skillsets to live a life free of alcohol & other substance related harm. Group work and individual interventions are part of the programme. We work with a broad range of whānau from across Aotearoa. Entry criteria:

  • 18+ and living in the Midlands region, although we can take referrals for methamphetamine treatment from across the North Island
  • have a primary alcohol and/or drug problem
  • have a stable physical and mental health status
  • be motivated to complete a 12 week drug and alcohol programme
  • have an identified community AOD worker
  • is open to a kaupapa Māori approach

Manaaki Ora PTE is a Private Training Establishment offering New Zealand Certificate and Diploma level courses in Whānau Ora across Aotearoa. Our courses prepare kaimahi working with whānau in the community, (not only Whānau Ora Navigators, but all those working with whānau), with the best possible skills and knowledge to support whānau to achieve their aspirations. Our courses are delivered in a wānanga setting, with assessments being completed online. Pūkenga Mātauranga, who are highly qualified and respected in their field of expertise, present relevant, engaging information alongside passionate kaiako. Tauira will be assessed with NZQA unit standards and modules using a variety of assessment methods.

Manaaki Ora Elder Abuse Rapid Response (EARR) service

This is a free service currently being delivered in Whakatāne District, Western Bay of Plenty District and Taupō District to address the immediate needs of older people (65 and over) experiencing, or at risk of, abuse and neglect.
