Referrals to Wellington Hospital:
External referrals should be directed to Te Haika, our 24/7 mental health and addictions contact centre (phone 0800 745 477).
Te Haika can also be contacted for non-urgent enquiries and mental health and addiction referrals via our online contact and referral form. A staff member from Te Haika will be in touch within a few days to discuss your enquiry / referral.
Internal referrals should be sent using the consultation liaison inpatient referral form available in the electronic health record, or contact us directly on 04 806 2185 or extension 82185.

The consultation liaison psychiatry service is based in the general hospitals in Hutt Valley and Wellington.
Within business hours Monday to Friday they provide consultation and mental health assessment. They also offer advice and treatment recommendations to hospital staff for people under their care.
Treatments and care we provide:
- advice and support to the general hospital wards
- mental state and cognitive testing
- facilitating and liaising with other mental health services involved in individuals needs
- support with referring to external services for ongoing treatment and support for mental health.
The consultation liaison psychiatry service is made up of consultant psychiatrists, registrars, mental health nurses and a psychologist.
