Description

A Girl Called Hope is passionate about strengthening the resilience, self-esteem and wellbeing of those in Aotearoa. We facilitate Wellbeing courses both online and in-person, to anyone seeking skills and tools to strengthen their wellbeing.  For those who would prefer a supported journey to strengthening their wellbeing, our "Pathways to Hope" service model provides the opportunity for a Tailored Pathway where participants work with a Wellbeing Coach towards goals that matter to them.

Our Pathways to Hope service model is designed with the belief that all people have the capacity to change, learn and grow.  All courses and programmes are suitable for those 16yrs and over.

Through our holistic wellbeing programmes we provide reflection of one's own journey, learning healthy coping tools, gaining positive life skills, and opportunities to develop healthy connections with others.  We do this by providing a place to heal and strengthen based on the Te Whare Tapa Wha model of health.  Our Wellbeing Skills courses are open to anyone in the community to register; in-person courses are female-only cohort and online courses are open to all.

For those who would prefer a supported journey to strengthening their wellbeing, a Tailored Pathway may suit. This means we work with participants where they are located, towards the wellbeing goals that matter to them.  Those on a Tailored Pathway work with a qualified Wellbeing Coach to formulate their personal wellbeing goals and how to move towards them.  A Tailormade Pathway provides access to our other support services including Online Wellbeing Skills courses, Counselling, Wellbeing Skills short courses and Personal Development courses.  We welcome working alongside any existing support services as part of someone's Tailormade Pathway.

Even if you have no personal connection to God, our desire is that all who engage with us would experience unconditional love and transformative change, resulting in freedom; this is our Christian environment, our kaupapa.  Our practice is informed by evidence-based models and theories such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Mindfulness skills learnt in DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) and the Strength Based approach.

Staff

We are a multi-disciplinary team with suitable qualifications and experience for the roles undertaken.  The team roles include Programme Manager, Wellbeing Coach, Course Facilitator, Counsellor and Courses Administrator.  Therapeutic staff all engage in regular professional supervision to ensure a high standard of ethical practice.

Each person is supported to determine their own needs and to retain or regain control of their own journey to strengthen their wellbeing. A Wellbeing Skills Short Course is designed to build upon every participant’s existing hauora (wellbeing) resources.
