Description

Dayspring provides mental health support, counselling, and programmes for mothers of children up to five years of age.

Dayspring is a registered charitable trust.  As a community organisation we provide services that support and positively influence the pathways for women and their families/whānau. The wellbeing of the mother means families can flourish and grow and ultimately affects the health of the communities we live in. Maternal Mental Health Community Support Service

Dayspring maternal mental health community support service provides professional support for women and their babies/young children who have experienced postnatal depression or anxiety, or are living with an existing mental health issue. We provide: Support to mothers to build capacity and maintain wellness Assistance in finding the right support networks Connection and Support groups for mothers Strengths-based approach in working with mothers Goal setting and personal plans Ensure most effective care by working alongside health professionals Life Skill Courses (i.e budgeting, nutrition, cooking, sewing, exercise and mindfulness) Creche for the mothers while they attend Dayspring programmes Advocacy (i.e WINZ, Housing, Corrections, Court, Health related matters) Assistance with access to other services as needed (ie pre-employment training)

  • Waitemata DHB residents ( Waitakere and North Shore Cities)
  • People receiving clinical services from the Waitemata DHB Adult and Maternal Mental Services or Primary Care
  • Women from the age 18+

Referral Process

Referrals are by Community mental health teams, Community Support Work Service Teams, Oranga Tamariki, CADS Parenting and Parental Services, and similar like minded organisations.

Dayspring Care Centre is where recovery based group activities occur for mothers who experience mental health issues to find support and friendship.

Dayspring Care Centre opens every Tuesday-Friday during school terms, providing a range of parenting support, psycho-education and life skills programmes.

Our on-site crèche enables parents and caregivers to attend our programmes while we care for their baby/child nearby. There is a small fee for using the Creche.

Who can receive our service?
Secure Beginnings is suitable for any parent with infants and pre-school aged children, who may be interested in understanding and improving their relationship with their children or may be struggling with managing challenging behaviours.

Secure Beginnings will accept referrals that have been identified as appropriate by another service.
