Description

We believe that the support that we provide needs to work for those who need it. To help respond to people’s needs we have a number of teams providing mobile support, community support, peer-support, individualised support, referral programmes and running workshops.

Community Support Team - Waitematā & Auckland Central

Our Community Support Service consists of 3 mobile teams supporting people in their recovery from mental health issues by offering a wide range of practical and empowering services.

Reach Out - North Shore and Rodney

Reach Out Peer Support is a mobile service supporting people in their recovery from mental health issues. All the team have their own personal experiences of mental health trauma and recovery.

Mahi Marumaru - Counties Manukau

Mahi Marumaru is a mobile peer service supporting people to recover from alcohol and other drug-related issues. The English translation for Mahi Marumaru is 'many people working together'. All Peer Support Workers have their own lived experience of addiction and personal journey of recovery.

Huarahi Oranga - Kaitaia, Whangārei and Auckland through to Hamilton, Tokoroa, Rotorua and Whakatāne

Huarahi Oranga is a mobile service supporting people to grow their kete of knowledge, skills and support as they move towards their vision of wellbeing. Our Navigators work alongside Tangata Whaiora, their Whānau, and their Work and Income Case Managers to build a holistic picture of where they are at, where they want to be and the steps it takes to get there.

Whiti Ora (Personal Focus)

Whiti Ora provides a variety of skill based programmes that promote life skills, community integration and preparation for employment. Whiti Ora services include group activities, individualised support and wrap workshops.

Intensive Support Services (ISS) - South and West Auckland

ISS is a vocational service catering for high and complex needs clients with intellectual disability and/or a mental health diagnosis. ISS provides life skills and day service specifically tailored to the individual needs of each client, combining client-centred goals with behavioural interventions.

Community Support Services (CSS Central & CSS South)

The Community Support Services are specialist services within Ember and are responsible for engaging and supporting people who face challenges with their mental wellbeing. The aim is that all people can engage in their chosen community and achieve their fullest potential. This includes working with the individual as well as a commitment to work actively in partnership with family/ whānau, Community Mental Health Centres and General Practitioners.

Awhi Ora - Auckland Central

Awhi Ora is a part of our Community Support Services Central, a specialist service within Ember. It is committed to providing support to clients, by helping to find resources in their community that will enable them to live their lives to the fullest. The service is for people who are currently experiencing personal/ practical challenges and are finding it difficult to perform day to day tasks or to reach their desired goals.

Community Living Service - Papakura and Pukekohe

The Community Living Service (CLS) is a specialist service within Ember and is responsible for engaging and supporting individuals with a mental illness, who have high and complex needs. The aim is to engage people into their chosen community which will enable them to achieve to their fullest potential.

Franklin Integrated Locality Care Team (ILoC) - Franklin

Our team of mental health and addiction clinicians combines with support workers to engage with primary care professionals and people under their care. We provide support to primary care by liaison, advice and brief intervention in primary care settings. We are a complement to the existing range of specialist community mental health services.

Description

We offer a number of residential support services, which provide personalised care and rehabilitation for those who need it.

Beach Haven (Oruamo)

Beach Haven is an 8-bed service uniquely combining elements of both residential and community support, where those with mental health issues can effectively work on practical, emotional and social skills that will help them live a fulfilling life within the community.

Beach Haven is for those who would benefit from high levels of complex support and are under care from a community mental health team. The service provides longer-term support.

Abeo House

Meaning ‘Change’ in Latin, Abeo House is an 8-bed residential service. It provides a personalised mental health residential service to assist people get the life they want.

Open to those who are being supported by a local community mental health team, people can stay with us for up to 18 months.

Piri Pono

Piri Pono is a 5-bed residential, acute alternative to hospitalisation. Peer led, it is staffed with both nurses and support workers, making it a rare and special combination. Piri Pono in English means to be loyal, faithful and devoted — an allegiance. The name reflects our practice — a respite home that encourages people to pull together with a focus on independent living and building relationships.

Piri Pono is available to those experiencing extreme mental distress who have been assessed by the Rodney Adult Mental Health Services. Guests are able to stay for up to 10 days in a homelike, personalised environment with a holistic approach to wellness.

Poutama

Poutama is an 8-bed residential service to assist people experiencing both mental health and alcohol/substance abuse issues move forward in their lives. In Te Reo Māori, Poutama is a stepped pattern of tukutuku panels and woven mats symbolising genealogies and various levels of learning and intellectual achievement. Some say they represent the steps which Tāne-o-te-Wānaga ascended to the topmost realm in his quest for superior knowledge and religion. The tukutuku panels located at this service are called Poutama. The idea is to bring people on board to learn and focus on the progression ladder to wellness.

Puna Whakataa

Puna Whakataa is a 10-bed, Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) respite and treatment residential service in partnership with The Salvation Army. We provide management and peer support work and The Salvation Army provide the clinicians. The English translation is ‘the spring of rest and respite’ meaning an environment created for treatment and respite.

Waatea

Waatea in Te Reo Māori means ‘a place of clearing’ — bringing people out from institutions with a focus on community living and participation. Waatea is a 7-bed residential service in the Hillcrest Hamilton area for people experiencing mental health issues.

Piki Te Ora

In Te Reo Māori, Piki Te Ora refers to the ascent of wellbeing, or people who are transitioning to be ready to live in the community independently. Piki Te Ora is a 7-bed residential service in the Hillcrest Hamilton area for people experiencing mental health issues.

Hohou Rongo

A 6-bed residential service in the Hillcrest Hamilton area, Hohou Rongo is about working together to achieve peace of mind, body and spirit. It is important to have a well balanced sense of peace within one’s whole being and within whānau, friends and wider community. It is about instilling that spirit of peace within the individual and staff, and creating an environment of Hohou Rongo.

Peer Talk - Counties Manukau

Peer Talk is a service that connects people in need of mental health support with Peer Support Workers over the phone. It is one of a number of helpline services that constitute the National Telehealth Service. It is run in collaboration with Homecare Medical. Peer Talk is an effective way to overcome some of the barriers that make it difficult for people to access mental health care, namely distance and cost. This free phone-based counselling service makes it easier for those in need to get help.

DRIVE Consumer Direction Counties Manukau

DRIVE is a lived experience network that supports people in Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau health region who experience mental distress or harm from alcohol or other drugs. The main thing they do is navigate, letting people know where the resources are so they can empower themselves.

DRIVE also:
- supports the personal and professional development of the peers through workshops delivered by ABACUS Traininig and Supervision and The Recovery College.
- administrates two scholarships. One to the Cutting Edge Conference and the other to their annual Recovery Camp in March.
- Organises bi-monthly hui to connect with peers including their annual Matariki Hui.

Peer Employment Training

PET provides training and preparation for work as a Peer Support Worker to individuals with their own lived experience of mental health or alcohol/drug addiction issues. We hold an unwavering belief that people can and want to learn, grow and develop. We also believe that peer-to-peer support is one of the greatest learning experiences in someone’s quest for wellbeing.

Work Focus is an employment service committed to helping people who have experienced mental illness to find and maintain employment whilst developing a career.

We do this through a team of professional employment consultants. Our employment consultants work throughout Auckland with people in their local communities. We have extensive networks with employers who come from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. We are here to take the time to understand your passions and interests whilst supporting your career aspirations.

DRIVE Consumer Direction Counties Manukau is a consumer network that represents the interests of people in the Counties Manukau District Health Board area who experience mental health issues, or problems with alcohol or other drugs.

DRIVE works to promote the consumer voice by being a link between service users and service providers, by supporting research, peer workforce development and by running hui.

DRIVE does not provide mental health or addictions services.

Description

Our specialist Housing Support team support people to find and keep the home of their choice in a number of ways:

• Provides information on housing issues, tenants’ rights and landlord responsibilities.
• Provides advocacy and works with landlords on service user’s behalf.
• Helps people build relationships with organisations that provide affordable housing.

Housing support is available to anyone using an Ember service.
