Referral Process

This service is provided to areas within a half-hour drive from Hamilton Central.

Description

We provide specialist maternal mental health services to mothers who experience moderate to severe mental health problems during their pregnancy and following birth (postnatal period). Partners, friends and whānau/family are also supported at this time.

We offer a variety of types of care in response to the mother's and baby's needs, providing psychological, psychiatric and one-to-one case management to support their mental health recovery.

• Your team will work closely with you, your whānau/family and those people you have involved in your care, such as Midwives, General Practitioners (GP) and Obstetric teams
• We work to support you to recover from mental illness and develop tools and skills to maintain wellness
• We provide awhi and support to help you learn ways to cope during adjustment to motherhood and bonding with your baby
• We'll also connect you, your whānau/family and supports/friends with other community services, as appropriate
• And we'll work to meet your specific cultural needs, taking the time to listen and get to know you
• There is no cost to our service and we offer support through pregnancy and up to one year after baby is born.
