Mind Set Engage

Mental Health & Addictions Service

Description

Mind Set Engage, New Zealand Rugby's free mental health and wellbeing programme, aims to support rugby environments to be places where help-seeking is encouraged and stigma related language and behaviour is reduced. The target audiences are rugby players, club leaders, coaches, managers, parents, whānau and the wider rugby community.

The Mind Set Engage team aims to achieve three core goals:

  • To strengthen the individual’s ability and intent to improve or maintain positive mental fitness and utilise effective strategies to cope with challenges in and outside of rugby.
  • To create sustainable environments in the rugby community that encourage conversations about mental health, and support help seeking and receiving.
  • To increase participants ability to recognise signs of distress, how to check-in, where to get help, and to encourage friends, whānau, and team members to find support.

MSE collaborates with wellbeing services across each region to ensure anyone accessing our programme know where to go within their city for mental health and general wellbeing support. Clubs and schools are linked up with these service providers.
