Mental Health & Addictions Service

Volunteer South seeks to celebrate, support, highlight and encourage volunteering in the Southern region by helping connect organisations that rely on volunteers to connect with people who are willing to offer their skills and energy to support them. The Supported Volunteering Programme (below) is specifically tailored for individuals who have experienced issues with their mental health and would like to explore whether volunteering might be a suitable option for them. For more information on the Community Connections Programme, please see the Volunteer South website.

  • Please call Claire on 0275065703 / 03 471 6202 during standard operating hours or email Claire at claire@volunteersouth.org.nz for further information about the enrolment process.

The Supported Volunteering Programme is a referral-based service that supports individuals who have experienced issues with their mental health to access volunteer opportunities.

Supported Volunteering offers a no-pressure environment and a non-judgemental experience allowing participants to make their own discoveries about what their interests are, what works for them, what does not and how they cope with new experiences. The Supported Volunteering Programme is funded by the Southern District Health Board.
