Yellow Brick Road provides confidential support, education, advocacy and peer group meetings for family/whānau members, partners and those close to someone experiencing mental illness or those who are bereaved by suicide.
Our service supports families, whānau, friends, employers from Kaikōura to the Rangitata River, Alps to the Ocean.

Outside of hours and on public holidays, phone messages can be left and will be answered as soon as possible.

Families are the unsung heroes out there, trying to support their loved family member, and we are the ones caring for them and helping them along that path. Our family support workers offer confidential guidance and navigation through mental health services, advocacy and education, through individual/famiy meetings and/or a number of different programmes for both individuals and groups, plus support groups. Our service covers Christchurch and the greater Canterbury Region. Supporting Families staff are also available to talk with you on the phone during working hours.

If you would like more information, or you’re not sure and would just like to talk to someone, contact one of the Yellow Brick Road friendly staff by phone or email. They will help with one-to-one support, information about the mental health system, education programmes and help to advocate for you and your whānau. There is no charge for our service.

Our Stepping Out for Women Programme is a course for women with adult or teenage children or another family member with mental illness. Our sincere hope is that you will come away from this programme with: A strong sense of purpose A clear understanding of your role in your family member's life The ability to set limits that work for you and your family A new understanding of how to look after yourself The ability to be your own coach Strategies for living a fulfilling and happy life
