Atareira promotes mental health and addiction recovery through partnerships with families, service-users and their communities.
Atareira’s main office is located in Porirua, with satellite offices in Wellington City and Lower Hutt. Our mobile workers cover all areas throughout the Wellington catchment area.
Atareira offers a number of services including Family Whānau support, Transitional Housing, Child and Youth services, anxiety management programmes and support groups. Contact us for more information.

Referral Process
Self referrals are accepted. With the person's consent, you can make a referral for someone else. There is no referral form to fill out, simply contact us with the details and we will take it from there.
If you live outside the Greater Wellington Region we can connect you with one of the Supporting Families branches in your region.

We provide short-term transitional housing and support to individuals and families that are temporarily experiencing homelessness. Included in our support is help to find sustainable housing. While staying in a Transitional Housing home, residents take care of their own basic living needs, including: - personal hygiene - cleaning and cooking - transport etc Staff will work alongside residents to develop a Housing Action Plan which includes working towards finding future accommodation. We encourage residents to link in and receive support from other services while with Atareira Transitional Housing. Please contact us for more information.

Based on the information we receive and your interview, we will determine your eligibility for the service and notify you of the outcome.
If you are deemed eligible, when a vacancy arises you will have an opportunity to view the room and accept or decline our offer of temporary housing.
