Description
MOH approved NZTA ASSESSMENTS, GROUP THERAPY, COUNSELLING for: drink drivers, alcohol and other drugs, relationships, anger management, FAMILY THERAPY, TONGAN LANGUAGE programmes, supervision and training.
We are a registered charitable trust who have been operating in the Auckland area and beyond since 2007.
Most of our work to date has been with those who have repeat drink (or drug) driving convictions and the associated alcohol and drug problems, but we do work across a range of counselling and therapy needs (anger management, depression, relationships and family therapy). Our specialist area is group therapy but we are happy to work with individuals, couples, families as a whole. We have also developed some specialist youth programmes.
Our staff are experienced counsellors and we have a strong Pasifika feel with Tongan language programmes offered.

If you have been given a 'section 65' indefinite licence disqualification by the court, you will need to have this removed before you can re-sit your licence. This means completing an alcohol and other drug assessment in order to assess your 'fitness to drive', given that you have 'lost' your licence for 'drink driving' offences. Harmony Trust can help you through this process. There is no charge if this is your first attempt, as it will be funded by the NZTA (New Zealand Transport Agency). The basic process is as follows: Firstly attend an assessment interview with Harmony Trust counsellor. Complete a blood test — this is a test for 'liver function' and full blood count. Attend an appointment with the Doctor who will review your blood test results. Complete any 'alcohol and drug' education recommended by your counsellor. Your counsellor will then send a report to the NZTA and you should receive a letter from them within one to two weeks. You will then need to re-sit your licence (call the NZTA on 0800 822 422 or visit www.nzta.govt.nz for more information on this process and to check the end date of your disqualification). Assessment Centers: Manurewa: St Lukes Anglican Church 3 Russell Road Manurewa Onehunga: Onehunga Community Centre 83 Church Street Onehunga New Lynn: Odyssey House 4/3029 Great North Road, New Lynn To book in for an assessment at any of these centres, call (09) 636 3449 or 0800 183 975 or click here to email us.

The group is run commencing fortnightly at 4 different venues across the Auckland region and the table below shows the venue locations, addresses for these, and typical group times. Typically the group begins with a 10 hour workshop part run over 2 days, then the second 10 hours being run at weekly 2 hour sessions over 5 weeks (we refer to these weekly groups as On The Road Again see below). Outside of Auckland and Hamilton regions we may at times run the first 10 hour 'workshop' session as a stand alone. A maximum of 12 referrals are accepted for each group. A referral can be made by completing the referral form on this page, by phoning 09 636 3449 or 0800 183975, or by using the referral form below After completing the full 20 hours you will receive a certificate which you may present in court or to your referrer. Harmony Trust has to date run over 170 of these groups since 2008 in Auckland and as far South as Dannevirke and Hāwera. One for the Road has shown good outcomes to date with most recent evaluations (2013) showing only 4.5% of graduates (1 in 22 people) ending up with a subsequent drink driving conviction over a period of 6 to 48 months post group completion. On the Road Again On the Road Again is a weekly support group for those making changes to their drink (drugged) driving behaviour. It forms the final part of the One for the Road Programme for repeat drink/drug drivers, and is run as a course of 5 sessions (2 hours per week for 5 weeks) based on themes to assist in initiating and maintaining change.
