Provide cultural care to Māori who are already receiving mental health or addiction support within South Canterbury Mental Health and Addictions Service.

The pathway of the Hauora Māori Team is to promote wellness & recovery, for whānau hapu & Iwi who utilise this service.
Hauora Māori Team, enquiry & referral process, is via the Multi-Disciplinary Team/ working alongside all clinical specialties within Mental Health & Addiction Services. General enquiry is most welcome.

The Hauora Māori team are located in the Kensington Centre and provide cultural care to service users who identify as Māori. They assist with the wellbeing of takata whaiora and their whānau by providing cultural assessments and supporting recovery through the Te Whare Tapa Whā model. They can also assist takata whaiora with the process of reconnecting with their whānau, iwi and hapū if this is requested. A special room in the Kensington building (Te Whare Tiaki Mahana) is available for whānau meetings, if required. Pou Tikaka / Kaumātua available on request.

Referral Process
The Hauora Māori team Community Support Workers are available to Māori who are already receiving mental health or addiction support within South Canterbury Mental Health and Addictions Service.
The Hauora Māori Team are located within Kensington Centre, providing cultural support advocacy, and assessment/Aromatawai to tangata Whaiora, their role is to participate and promote Te Tino Rangatiratanga/ acknowledging the recognition and emphasis that whānau place on Whakapapa.
