Intellectual Disability Dual Diagnosis Service
The Intellectual Disability Dual Diagnosis (IDDD) service is a community based specialist psychiatry service for those over the age of 18 who have an intellectual disability and a serious mental health diagnosis. The IDDD service works with Tangata Whaiora, whānau, and support staff to help facilitate the optimal care of the complex health needs of those diagnosed with an intellectual disability and significant mental health issues requiring specialist psychiatric input. A dual diagnosis client may require care from either the IDDD Service or an Adult Mental Health service depending on their specific needs. The most appropriate service to meet these needs will be determined clinically. The IDDD service can only enrol Hamilton residents, but may be able to provide psychiatric advice for people living within the Waikato region. IDDD input is typically time limited based on clinical need, with the goal to improve whaiora outcomes so they can return to primary care. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the following services: IQ testing Counselling services Needs assessments for funding of services Behaviour management plans Accommodation provision or funding Dementia screening and management ADHD or ASD screening or diagosis
