Kites Trust is a peer-led mental health organisation which values, respects, and utilises people’s experiences of mental health distress and/or addiction.
Our Purpose:
Kites Trust works to ensure that people who experience mental health crisis and/or addiction have equal opportunities to live, work and participate in the community.
Kites promotes consumer leadership as key to achieving social inclusion, equal citizenship rights and improved mental health services for people who experience mental health distress and/or addiction.
Our Vision:
People who experience mental health distress and/or addiction have equal opportunities to work, live and participate in the community. Mental health services include peer & consumer-led options and are informed by lived experience.

We also have Peer Supporters available for those presenting to the Emergency Department with mental health/AOD concerns.

This service is available to current inpatients at Te Whare o Matairangi / Te Whare Ahuru. We also have Peer Support Specialists in the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department Monday to Thursdays.

The Youth Peer Service is a community based, peer support initiative specially for young adults between the ages of 18-30 years old experiencing mental distress. Young adults do not need a referral to come to our groups and can simply turn up. The service consists of social groups and catchups for young people supporting each other with their mental wellbeing.
