Description
Based on the Whanganui Hospital campus, MICAMHAS provides services to those who reside within the WDHB boundary. Clinics are held in the rural areas for those who do not live in Whanganui City.
Staff
Maternal, Infant, Child & Adolescent Mental Health and Addiction Service (MICAMHAS) has a multidisciplinary team (MDT) of health professionals including Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, AOD Counsellors and a Youth Worker who work collaboratively with the young person and their family to develop therapy/treatment goals.
Cultural support is available through Te Hau Ranga Ora Māori Health Service to young people/patients/service users/tangata whaiora and their whānau, if required.

Our Maternal, Infant, Child & Adolescent Mental Health and Addiction Service (MICAMHAS) promotes the mental health and wellbeing of mothers, infants, children, adolescents and their families/whānau through its specialised mental health service. MICAMHAS offers infant, child and adolescent mental health assessments, therapy and treatment for those from infancy to age 18 years who are referred for having a suspected or identified, moderate to severe mental health illness or addiction. Maternal mental health assessment, therapy and treatment is provided from pregnancy up to 1 year after birth of the child. Alcohol and other drug services alongside mild to moderate mental health education and intervention is provided by the SUPP team for those aged 12 to 19 years.
