Ngāti Porou Oranga is an integrated health, development and support services provider.

We are one of the smallest and most unique Primary Health Organisations (PHO) in New Zealand. Ngāti Porou Oranga is a charitable trust; and the only Māori owned and operated hospital in the world.

Staff

Te Oranga Hinengaro 
The team of about 10 staff have a range of skills and treatment options including connections with specialist services such as rehabilitation.

Te Hiringa Matua
The Mataora or "Change Agents" - are a blend of tohunga mahi toi (traditional Māori artists) and ngaio hauora (health professional) that provide support using their pukenga (skills) to reconnect whānau with themselves in their journey of healing.

Te Oranga Hinengaro (Mental Health & Addictions) provides support to those who are facing challenges with mental health and drug/alcohol across the life span (from pepi to kaumātua). The service is provided to whānau living between Anaura Bay and Potaka, whom have agreed to be seen by Te Oranga Hinengaro. What's provided: Assessment and treatment for mental health and drug & alcohol issues Counselling - individual or group Education Support - individuals and whānau Cultural support Access to specialty services e.g. rehabilitation We can see you in your home, school, our clinic or another venue. This will be discussed with you. The Te Oranga Hinengaro service is based at 4 McKenzie Street, Te Puia Springs.

Te Hiringa Matua (Pregnancy and Parenting Service)

Te Hiringa Matua provide support for mama, hapu mama and their whānau dealing with drug and alcohol issues using Mahi-a-Atua and matauranga Māori. Our team of Mataora are a mix of social workers and traditional Māori artists providing support through 'wananga' and individual follow up in the community. Our wananga include - Purakau (Histories and Story-sharing), Karakia/Waiata (Ancient Prayer/Rituals), Mau rakau (Traditional Māori Weaponary), Taonga Puoro (Traditional Māori Musical Instruments), Nga Mahi a Rehia (Performing Arts), Mirimiri/Romiromi (Traditional Māori Therapies). Te Hiringa Matua is governed with Hauora Tairāwhiti, Ngāti Porou Hauora, Te Whare Hauora Te Aitanga a Hauiti and Te Hauora O Turanganui a Kiwa Ltd.
