Description
Consultation Liaison Psychiatry provides mental health consultation and liaison for patients referred from the general hospital setting.
Consultation involves comprehensive mental health assessment, treatment planning, and delivery to general hospital patients. This process begins at the bedside with the patient (and where possible, their family) and also includes the general hospital treating team and multi-disciplinary teams.
Liaison concerns the professional relationship between mental health clinicians and individual general hospital teams and may take place via ward-based activities (e.g. MDT meetings), service meetings, educational activities, etc.
