Referral
Referrals can be made through your clinical team or a Needs Assessment and Service Coordinator (NASC) provided by Te Whatu Ora.

This recovery-focused rehabilitation service supports tāngata whai i te ora in enhancing life skills, strengthening their identity, and deepening their knowledge and understanding of Māoritanga.
This consists of three whare (houses), all within the Waitemata DHB region of Auckland. Tāngata whai i te ora who have been diagnosed have their needs assessed and are placed according to their requirements into a whare. Once placed in a whare, Tangata Whaiora are provided ongoing external clinical treatment and support through their clinical teams. All three whare are staffed with culturally aware mental health professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Kaimahi ensure all needs are met during their short-term stay, offering crucial support for those experiencing mental distress who benefit from a stable, safe setting. Access to respite care is by referral from Home-Based Treatment or Crisis Teams under WDHB.
