Te Rūnanga Ō Kirikiriroa provides adult mental health services including day programmes, supported accommodation, respite.
An organisation which prides itself upon many health initiatives which over the years have benefited many of our local whānau.

Aroha ki te Tangata is a day program that is recovery focused, and offers a wide range of programmes and activities that build on and support opportunities for Service Users in Mental Health. Our programs are responsive and flexible enough to empower Service Users to meet their individual and collective needs. Service users are able to build on and develop relationships, and are encouraged to build links back into their community. Aroha ki te Tangata works alongside Service Users who want to make changes for a more satisfying lifestyle. The program facilitates the development of functional living skills, building on and developing interpersonal skills, independent living skills, leisure skills and pre-vocational/vocational skills. Access Aroha Ki Te Tangata can come via any community referral including self-referral, whānau, DHB clinical services and wards, or supported accommodation facilities.

Ngā Whare Tūhono is a 22 bed residential service that provides supported accommodation for whanaunga with mental health issues and also enables meaningful recovery in a tranquil and safe setting. Staff work with the aim of supporting whanaunga reintegration into the community wherever possible. In cases where a return to the community is not indicated we look to enable whanaunga to live as independently as possible within safe and manageable limits. A strong focus is placed on residents developing life skills, social skills, self-care skills and the ability to manage their own medication. Being active in one’s own recovery is emphasised and whanaunga are encouraged to join programmes offered in the community. Ngā Whare Tūhono upholds the following behavioural standards: Zero tolerance of violence and abuse. No use of illicit substances. Supporting people to make their own choices wherever possible.

- Have completed a Support Needs Assessment or Crisis Needs Assessment with an approved assessment service (ask us for a list of approved services).
- Have completed our referral documents (ask us for a copy and we’ll send it to you).
Ideally they should:
- Be over 20 years of age.
- Have support from whānau and/or support person(s) and/or a mental health service.
- Be willing, open and committed to living in a whānau-like residence.
- Be committed to abstaining from illicit substance use.

(c) Alcohol & other Drugs - whānau that identify with having problems with drugs and alcohol that are seeking support to either reduce, minimise or work towards abstaining from substances. (d) Peer Support – works alongside the clinician to support and guide whānau through other identified areas that may or could impact on your recovery journey.

Referral Process
Ring Te Rūnanga O Kirikiriroa and request a referral form for self referrals. Walk ins are also acceptable to complete the referral form. Other methods for referrals are via your GP, other social agencies and government agencies.
