Staff
You will talk to a Health Improvement Practitioner. They are qualified mental health clinicians.
A Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) is a registered mental health professional who works within general practice to provide immediate, practical support for mental health and well-being. In New Zealand, HIPs are trained to offer brief, evidence-based interventions for a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, low mood, sleep difficulties and lifestyle changes.

Yes, casual patients can access free online mental health appointments with Tend.
How to book your free appointment:
- Download the Tend app
- Sign up and create your account
- Tap the purple banner on the home page that says 'Book a free mental wellness video consult now!'
- Follow the instructions and select a time, date and clinician you like
- Your clinician will video call you via the Tend app at your appointment time
- You will receive a detailed action plan in the Tend app following your consult that you can use straight away to feel better
Enrolled patients
Yes, enrolled patients can access both online and in-person mental wellness consultations for free. Simply book via the Tend app.

We are open during the holiday period, only closed on public holidays.
