Intensive Whānau Support: We work with you and your whānau to prevent recurring violence by supporting you to create strategies of whānau resilience that are tailored to suit your whānau. The plans are whānau led to support your whānau needs and goals. The service can provide Tikanga based approaches that provide re-connection to Whakapapa, Tikanga mo Te Reo Māori and other long-term change.

Our Counselling Services also offer a space where you can be you, to discuss problems and any difficult feelings, being listened to without any judgement, 

Elderly Abuse & Response Services: No matter how old we are, we are all entitled to be treated as full members of our communities. Elder abuse is widespread and impacts everyone in our community. We can reduce the risk of elder abuse by putting systems in place that can prevent abuse from the start. For example, we can create community supports and services for caregivers and older people that can reduce the risk factors tied to elder abuse (such as social isolation).

The Children’s Team approach is a way of working hand in hand with families and whānau to create safer lives for at-risk children.

Te Maro Motuhake – a non-violence program for men and women who have been directed by the Court or the Department of Corrections to undertake a non-violence programme. Our team can complete an assessment and provide a monitored programme to meet your needs and the requirements of the agency that has directed you to attend. The program offers strategies and tools to keep you and your whānau safe from family harm.

Family Start is a tamariki centred home visiting program that focuses on health, learning, safety, and whānau relationships. The program encompasses manaaki, awhi, whakamana, and tautoko to whānau to ensure tamariki are well supported in order to thrive.

We provide free support, advice and education services for Mama and their Pēpi that is client focused and culturally appropriate.

Kaupapa Antenatal: This is a free service that provides antenatal advice, healthy eating information, immunisation support, and a broader range of life skills for mama that is woven into the delivery of this service.

This service provides meaningful activity and health education and support to Kaumātua living within Kawerau and surrounding districts. This service aims to enhance positive social and functional activities for Kaumātua through mentally and socially stimulating programmes.

• Throat swab for rheumatic fever prevention

Rheumatic Fever / Cellulitis Prevention: Rheumatic fever commonly appears in school age children, it is a preventable disease by identifying sore throats caused by strep throat. Treatment is a course of an appropriate antibiotic. Our team of trained professionals can ensure the prevention of this disease through early detection and are based in schools within Kawerau and the surrounding areas including Whakatāne.

Sexual Health Clinic: We provide a walk-in clinic with a Registered Nurse that is available Monday to Friday. The service offers sexual and reproductive health information, education and advice on but not limited to; staying safe, contraception, STI’s and puberty.

We also offer contraception access, including education, insertion and removal of LARC (Long acting reversible contraception) preformed by a fully competent registered nurse.

We offer nutrition and health knowledge and promote physical activity to inspire healthy and active Rangatahi and their whānau. The service aims to develop whānau as champions of healthy lifestyles.

Rangatahi (one-on-one support): This service offers high intensity youth work support for youth at high risk of poor life outcomes through programmes and/or one-to-one mentoring, assisting young people to engage in positive activities.

He Poutama Rangatahi: Are you 15-24 years and looking for further education, training or employment? We offer a 10 week programme that will help you become work-ready or to consider further training

Tikanga Wānanga (Rangatahi): We offer Tikanga Programs that offer Māori philosophy, values, knowledge and practices to foster the regeneration of Māori identity and values. Our programmes are designed to improve Rangatahi motivation to understand their offending and increase their interest in engaging with other cultural interventions that will reduce their likelihood of re-offending.

Social Workers in Schools is a tamariki service delivered within Schools based in Kawerau. The team assists tamariki whose social and family circumstances put them at risk of not achieving good health, education, and welfare outcomes.

We can help improve your access to primary medical and community health facilities by providing community-based assessments, co-ordination and referrals into other services. We offer whānau support and advocacy through education and promotion.
