Description

We provide housing and recovery based services in West Auckland and Auckland City.

The aim is to provide a safe and supportive home-like environment that lets you plan for your move into a more independent living situation. To this end, the services replicate, as closely as possible, the realities, responsibilities and obligations of a flat-sharing lifestyle.

WALSHtrust staff work collaboratively with people to identify skills they would like to develop or learn, and also encourage greater interdependence, social connection and awareness of health and wellbeing.

Staff provide 24 hour supervision.

Our service supports those aged between 18 and 65, and is free to all New Zealand residents.

Description

Mobile Community Support assists people in West Auckland who live in the community with an experience of mental unwellness.

Our staff work with a person’s strengths, resources and natural supports to create their choice of where they would like to live, learn and work.

How We Support You

Mobile Community Support walks alongside you in your journey of recovery and supports you to live the best life possible. We provide a balance between assessing what is happening for you, by listening and using strengths-based tools, and supporting you practically to achieve your goals.

The local community provides an oasis of resources and agencies that our staff access through our well-established networks. This allows the people we work with to choose the best local social and interest groups, budgeting and legal advice, counselling, education, training and health services.

Description

Our Peer Support Services offer people living in the community the opportunity to increase their knowledge and resources by sharing experiences, strengths and information. It is not a clinical service.

One to One Peer Support
This involves regular meetings with a peer support worker to look at how we can support you to reach your goals.

Groups
These are facilitated by peer support workers with a lived experience. We provide a place where people meet, reconnect and support each other to move towards the life they want.

Description

independent ENDEAVOURS is a free service for those aged 16-65 with a significant barrier to accessing employment or engaging with the community. 

independent ENDEAVOURS offers group workshops and outdoor programs to enhance your life skills. Weekly workshops address coping strategies, increased independence, or practical skills for entering the workforce. All programs are recovery and strengths-based, with a focus on personal growth. You may want to participate on more than one program simultaneously.

For those considering employment, the programs also provide an opportunity to showcase your personal strengths, reliability, punctuality and teamwork. References can be provided and you may also be eligible for one-on-one assistance with job search and in-job support through our EmploymentWorks! service.

Outdoor Programmes -  hands-on experience to challenge and support people in a variety of activities.

Project Twin Streams
Join us for a weekly outdoor experience, maintaining native trees along stream banks, potting at our plant nursery, and nurturing community spaces. You’ll learn about plants, wildlife and growing your own from seed.  Hard physical labour is not required. Come and enjoy the fresh air and company of others and make a positive impact on your community. A light lunch or sausage sizzle is provided.

Referrals for Te Whare Rata are received from either the community or from Ward 12 North Shore Hospital, WDHB Mental Health Service for Older Adults.

Description

Te Whare Rata ('the house of wisdom') currently provides five beds for older people who require short term support with their mental health. There is a sixth bed used for respite for older persons only.

How long people stay at Te Whare Rata is based upon a person's support needs assessment. To date, people have stayed on average between three weeks and four months.

Five full-time and four part-time staff are employed at Te Whare Rata, (including registered professionals). Services are offered 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Our referrals come from maternal mental health services in the Waitemata DHB and Auckland DHB areas.

Description

He Kākano Ora (‘seeds for life’) offers  residential respite support for mothers to recover from mental health difficulties between the first trimester of pregnancy through to their baby turning one year of age.  We also offer support to families in their homes.

At He Kākano Ora we can:

• Support you with your individual goals
• Provide mental health support and promote wellness
• Help you to access appropriate community resources or groups
• Offer support in caring for your baby as required
• Assist with pregnancy and birth planning support
• Liaise and work with your clinical team and other agencies you chose to be involved
• Maintain your rights and dignity at all times

The respite service is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our registered health professionals and experienced staff work alongside our mothers in our spacious home in Te Atatu which is well resourced. We provide a relaxing environment that promotes wellness and recovery and fosters attachment between mothers and their babies. We recognize that you drive your own recovery and our approach is based on helping you to identify and utilise your strengths. He Kākano Ora staff will also respect your cultural needs and ensure that you are in a safe environment that you can enjoy.
