Formerly Taranaki DHB Pharmacy Services

Taranaki DHB provides pharmacy services to inpatients at Taranaki Base and Hāwera Hospitals.

Services offered by Taranaki DHB's Hospital Pharmacy Department include:

Clinical Ward Pharmacy - medicines reconciliation, medicine therapy assessment, promoting quality, safe, cost effective therapy to ensure the best outcomes for the patient and the organisation
Extended hours ED serivce
Maintenance of clinical treatment guidelines
Medicine utilisation information
Pharmaceutical supply - provision of all inpatient medication
Non-sterile manufacturing
Clinical check of chemotherapy/MAB charts
Chemotherapy/MAB supply
Patient counselling and yellow medication cards, on request

The Hospital Pharmacy is not able to do outpatient dispensing.

Staff

Our team is made up of clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and an electronic medication management team.

We are an inpatient based service. If necessary, your treating team can facilitate contact with us.

We also run a 24/7 on-call service for clinical or supply issues.

Public Holidays: Closed ANZAC Day (25 Apr), King's Birthday (3 Jun), Matariki (28 Jun), Labour Day (28 Oct), Waitangi Day (6 Feb). Open Good Friday (18 Apr, 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM), Easter Sunday (20 Apr), Easter Monday (21 Apr, 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM).
