What is Gastroenterology?
Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine that looks at diseases of the oesophagus (gullet), stomach, small and large intestines (bowel), liver, gallbladder and pancreas.

What is Endoscopy?
Endoscopy is a non-invasive procedure where the specialist uses a long flexible tube with a small camera to give a view of your internal parts, without the need for surgery. It is also possible to pass different instruments through the endoscope to allow biopsies to be taken and polyps to be removed. There are several different kinds of endoscopy depending on where the doctor needs to look.
