Dr Jens-Peter Link

General Practitioner

Qualifications

State Exam Med 1998 Goettingen; FRNZCGP 2011

Profile

I am a German trained GP and immigrated to New Zealand with my wife and daughter in 2007.

Following my medical studies I undertook extensive training and work in Germany in a variety of medical fields. In order to gain the best and widest possible qualification for becoming a GP, I worked in General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, Diabetology, General Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery, Psychiatry and General Practice.

Following our immigration to New Zealand I initially worked as a doctor in Hāwera Hospital for some years. During this time I looked after General Medical inpatients (including Geriatric Medicine, Palliative Care) as well as patients in the Emergency Department.

Since then I have gained New Zealand GP qualification by becoming a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners some years ago. For the past 5 years I have worked as a full time GP on Waiheke Island.

I am passionate about General Practice and look forward to caring for patients in a personal, caring and trustful environment for many years to come.

I hope to be able to continue and create long standing patient-doctor relationships, which will enable me to treat, advise and guide patients through the complete spectrum of healthcare needs in their lives.

I strongly believe in a team approach as well as a holistic approach to wellbeing and enjoy cooperating and interacting with the wide spectrum of healthcare providers in the community.

My special interests are General/Internal Medicine, Older Peoples Health, Chronic Care Management, Diabetes Management, Nutritional Medicine, Clinician Performed Ultrasound as well as Ear Acupuncture.
