I am a General and Bariatric Surgeon, with expertise in minimally invasive procedures through a laparoscopic approach. Our practice provides high quality kaupapa Māori care, which creates best outcomes for all patients.

Referral Expectations
For bariatric referrals, please include height and weight with the referral letter. Patients should have a BMI of >30kg/m2, or >27.5kg/m2 in Asian/Indian patients, especially if combined with Type 2 diabetes or hypertension.
Fees and Charges Description
The initial assessment with Dr Wheeler is $292 for either General surgery or bariatric consultations. A further schedule of fees is included in our information pack, which can be requested by emailing [email protected]
Hours
I consult with patients kanohi-ki-te-kanohi (face to face) alternating weekly - Level 1 Kākāriki Hospital on Tuesday mornings, and the Ormiston Specialist Centre on Wednesday mornings. Telehealth consults are available Monday-Wednesday, and Thursday/Friday on request.
