Description

Waitematā Colorectal Specialists provide multidisciplinary management of colorectal and small bowel disease. Services and treatments include:

  • Outpatient treatment of Haemorrhoids
  • Endo-anal USS for Incontinence

  • Multi-disciplinary approach for Faecal Incontinence
  • Management of Complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Hydrogen Breath Testing.

Emergency Notification

We are not an emergency facility. If you are concerned in any way with your health, please present yourself to North Shore Emergency Department or GP.

Referral Expectations

When you come to your appointment, your specialist will ask questions about your illness and examine you to try to determine or confirm the diagnosis. This process may also require a number of tests (e.g. blood tests, x-rays, scans etc). Sometimes this can all be done during one visit, but for some conditions this will take several follow-up appointments. Occasionally some tests are arranged even before your appointment to try to speed up the process.
 
Once a diagnosis has been made, your specialist will discuss treatment with you. In some instances this will mean surgery, while other cases can be managed with medication and advice. If surgery is advised, the steps involved in the surgical process and the likely outcome are usually discussed with you at this time.

Travel Directions

Shea Terrace runs off Taharoto Rd, Takapuna.  We are located at 15 Shea Terrace, directly opposite the St Johns Ambulance Centre.

The Auckland Transport website is a good resource to plan your public transport options.

Parking

We have limited secure parking underneath the building.  Just go down the driveway to the left of our clinic, beside the café, and stay close to this right-hand side wall.  There is an intercom box on the wall.  Press the button for Waitemata Specialist Centre, and the secretary will open the garage door for you, which is just in front of you on the right. Please park in the spaces that are labelled Waitemata Specialist Centre. If you take any other parks, especially the WDHB, you are likely to be towed. If there are no parks left, you will need to park in the paid parking outside.

Pharmacy

There is a pharmacy across the road within North Shore Hosptial.
