Susie is a New Zealand born and USA trained Gynaecologic Oncologist who is dual boarded in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Gynaecologic Oncology with the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (ABOG).
She graduated from the University of Otago Medical School in 1997 and worked as a junior doctor in New Zealand before moving to the United States of America in 2001. Having completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in California, Susie moved to New York city to complete a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a Masters in Science at Cornell University. She then returned to California and completed a three year fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology at University of California Davis in Sacramento. Susie then worked in California and Washington States as a Gynaecologic Oncologist for 12 years, returning to New Zealand in early 2021.
She works as a consultant at Christchurch Women’s Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer with University of Otago. She operates at Southern Cross Christchurch, Forte and St Georges Hospital.
She treats patients with all gynaecologic cancers and precancers including ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers guiding patients through diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Susie has a particular interest in using minimally invasive surgical options when possible and has vast experience in robotic surgery using the DaVinci Surgical Robot.
Susie is a member of the Australian Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists (ASGO), the Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists (SGO) and the International Gynaecologic Cancer Society (IGCS). She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) and participates in RANZCOG continuing professional development as well as the continuing medical educational program with ABOG.
Susie is now part of the Christchurch Colorectal Group providing expert Gynaecologic and Gynaecologic Oncology care to our greater community.
