Description

St George's Cancer Care Centre is the largest private provider of cancer care services in the South Island. We provide patients with another choice outside of the public system for cancer treatment, notably offering shorter waiting times, access to non-Pharmac funded drugs, and advanced treatment through innovative equipment and evidence-based protocols.

How do I access this service?

Referral

Referrals may be made by any GP or medical specialist in New Zealand. Once referred, your documentation will be triaged and our team will be in contact with you to arrange an consultation.

Referral Expectations

For your first visit to St George’s Cancer Care, you will need to complete some registration information. These forms can be emailed or mailed to you ahead of your appointment, or you can complete them when you arrive for your appointment.

Your first consultation will typically last an hour or more.
It is a good idea to bring a support person and a list of questions that you might have to the consultation.

Your oncologist/haematologist will explain the nature of your illness and talk through recommended treatment options, and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

The total cost of your treatment will be determined by your treatment plan. After your first consultation, you will be given an indication of the treatment costs required.

Dietitians help people to eat healthy and balanced diets to improve their health and wellbeing and also to manage dietary related health conditions.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists diagnose and support people to regain mobility and reduce pain caused by an injury, disability or health condition such as arthritis.
