Absolute Radiology is a Specialist Radiology Clinic located in Taranaki, NZ.

We are a newly established Radiology facility using advanced technology to deliver safe, convenient and friendly care.

Radiology Imaging
All patients need a referral from a Medical Practitioner  (e.g.  GP, Specialist, Midwife, Physio, Osteopath) before the following procedures are able to be performed:
  • Xray
  • CT
  • Ultrasound
  • MRI
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Echocardiography
 
If you meet certain criteria, you can self refer for the following:
  • Bone Mineral Density Scan
  • Body Composition Scan
 
 

Staff

Sue Smith-Howard: Operations Manager

Sue has worked in many Radiology roles but more recently Radiology management.

She has a passion for making sure the patient has a friendly and professional service when visiting Absolute Radiology.

Sue also has a special focus on staff education, development and in-house staff wellness.

Dr Abysinia Sibanda:  Medical Director

Dr Sibanda works between Absolute Radiology and Taranaki Base Hospital as an Interventional Radiologist.

He obtained his medical qualification in Zimbabwe before moving to the UK to pursue postgraduate qualifications in Medicine and Radiology.  He completed Fellowship training in Interventional Radiology at St Mary's, Charing Cross and Hammersmith hospitals in London.

His specialty interests include vascular, body and musculoskeletal interventional Radiology.

How do I access this service?

Referral

We welcome walk in patients for the following imaging examinations (You do need to ensure you bring your referral form with you, or ask your referrer to email it to us in advance):

  • X-ray
  • CT
  • Bone Density Scanning
  • Body Composition Scanning (no form required)

 

For other imaging examinations we do need to make an appointment.  It is likely your referrer will send your referral through to us.  If you have the referral, we ask you to send it to our bookings email.

Make an appointment

If we have your referral, we will give you a call to make an appointment (please make sure your details are all up to date on your referral form so that we can get hold of you).

If you have your referral, we need to see it before we can make an appointment - please email it through to us - bookings@absoluteradiology.co.nz.  This enables us to allow the correct amount of time, and to get a guide on pricing so that we can advise you in advance.

Referral Expectations

For Referrers:

We do recommend you have an inteleviewer account set up to both view images and review the report.  It is not compulsory, but will make your life easier.  Setting up an account is very easy - Give our PACs team a call to arrange this - OR, go online to https://www.absoluteradiology.co.nz/referrers

Fees and Charges Description

We work with ACC, Southern Cross (Affiliated Provider), NIB & other major insurance companies.  

If you are paying privately, we have eftpos facilities available.   

Payment is required on the day of the examination.

We do have surcharges for some procedures, these are required to be paid prior to the examination commencing. 

Please be familiar with your insurance policy.  Some policies require an excess to be paid, whilst others have a shortfall - this is your responsibility.

Mon – Fri 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

From time to time we may book MRI appointments in the early evening or on weekend days.  These are ad hoc depending on our demand at the time.

Please note, we open at 7am and these appointments are very popular because it allows patients to attend appointments before work or school.  

Public Holidays: Closed Waitangi Day (6 Feb), Taranaki Anniversary (10 Mar), Good Friday (18 Apr), Easter Sunday (20 Apr), Easter Monday (21 Apr), ANZAC Day (25 Apr), King's Birthday (2 Jun), Matariki (20 Jun), Labour Day (27 Oct).
Christmas: Open 23 Dec — 24 Dec. Closed 25 Dec — 5 Jan. Open 6 Jan — 10 Jan.
