Consultants

Referral Expectations

Your GP will refer you to Dr Suppiah if they think you may have arthritis or an autoimmune disease and they require a specialist opinion regarding the diagnosis or treatment of the condition.

There is parking onsite and street parking if needed.  We lease rooms from the Auckland ENT Group in their premises (so don't get confused by the signage).  This is an old villa that has been customised into new consulting and in-office operating rooms.  We also offer a daystay facility for infusions of medications - ranging from biological medications such as rituximab, to iron and zolderonic acid.

At your appointment, a history of your symptoms will be taken, as well as a review of any medications you are on (so please bring these with you). You will then be examined which may include a general examination or only examination of your joints, depending on what condition your specialist is looking for. You may have further testing to establish the diagnosis, including an ultrasound of joints during your consultation.

Dr Suppiah will discuss with you the possible diagnosis and what further tests or treatments are recommended. He will contact your GP about your diagnosis, results of tests and a treatment plan. You may have ongoing follow-up with Dr Suppiah or be transferred back to the care of your GP.

Tests that may be required during or after your visit to the clinic include the following:

Blood tests
Ultrasound
X-ray, CT or MRI imaging
Joint Aspiration
Skin Biopsy
