Profile

Upon graduating from medical school, Ausha completed his Internship in General Surgery and General Medicine in the beautiful East Anglia region of England. He then embarked on specialist training in Gynaecology and Obstetrics in the Northwest of England. Ausha was admitted to the Membership of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist, UK in 2010. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) by the General Medical Council (GMC), in 2014 and was placed in the specialist register in the UK. Ausha also holds a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, UK.

Ausha served as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician for the National Health Service (NHS), UK until he moved to New Zealand on a permanent basis in January 2018 with his family.

Ausha was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2018. He was also granted the Vocational Scope for practice in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by the Medical Council of New Zealand in the same year.

Ausha is currently a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) at Te Whatu Ora Hutt Valley. He is also the Clinical Lead for Gynaecology. He consults privately at Boulcott Hospital and Bowen Hospital.

Ausha is passionate about medical education and training the next generation of young doctors. As well as currently teaching as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago, Wellington, Ausha has also served as an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Aberdeen, UK. He is also a member of the board of assessors of Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and an accredited training supervisor of the postgraduate trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Ausha is a generalist Gynaecologist with his main clinical interest in advanced laparoscopic (key hole) and hysteroscopic surgery. His clinical interests include:

  • Menstrual disorders including heavy menstrual bleeding and abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Endometriosis
  • Pelvic pain
  • Fibroids
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Management of ovarian cysts
  • Infertility investigations and management
  • Recurrent miscarriage
  • Menopausal problems
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Vulval disorders
